Who We Are
Burchfield Educational Theatre is a family-run children's theatre company born in Buda, TX, offering immersive all-day summer camps and enriching after-school theatre education for students in grades K–12.
Rooted in the belief that theatre empowers every child to grow emotionally, socially, and creatively, our programs are designed to build confidence, skills, and community. Every camper is given a meaningful role in the creative process—from performance to backstage work—so that all voices are heard and every child has the chance to shine.
About Burchfield Educational Theatre
Our Mission
Burchfield Educational Theatre provides summer camps and after-school theatre education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, while also mentoring college students through internship opportunities.
We are a small, family-owned company made up of seasoned artists, performers, directors, and educators. Our goal is to give young people the chance to truly be part of a theater company—whether that’s on stage or behind the scenes. We support every child’s individual journey by creating a safe, inclusive space where growth is celebrated over perfection.
Students leave our programs with stronger public speaking, memory, coordination, and reading skills—along with unforgettable experiences, lifelong friendships, and a whole lot of joy.
Meet The Founders
Angela Burchfield
Angela is a lifelong educator, performer, and music therapist with over 30 years of experience teaching voice and piano. She’s known for her incredible capacity to connect with children of all abilities—particularly those with special needs—and to bring out their inner confidence on and off the stage.
With over five decades of performance experience in opera, theatre, rock, and sacred music, Angela has worn many hats: director, choreographer, music director, pianist, vocal coach, set design, muralist and more. She’s recently directed or led musical productions including The Little Mermaid Jr., My Son Pinocchio, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Legally Blonde Jr., and Matilda (performed at Universal Studios).
Angela holds a degree in Music Therapy from Duquesne University and is deeply passionate about using theatre as a tool for emotional and developmental growth. She continues to teach private lessons, direct musical productions, and perform locally as part of the band Hideous Pink, which she co-founded with her husband Tim.
Tim Burchfield
Tim is a musician, performer, and visual artist with a background in musical theatre and set construction. As a teen, he performed in theatre at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts and has since gone on to lead set design and construction for numerous local productions, including Unveiled: A Musical at the Scottish Rite Theater in Austin, My Son Pinocchio at AET, and Legally Blonde Jr. at Johnson High School in Buda.
Tim specializes in bringing theatrical worlds to life from designing to building entire stage sets. He’s also a prolific songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist, performing alongside Angela in their band Hideous Pink, which has been active in the Austin music scene since 2008.
Tim brings a grounded and strong foundation to Burchfield Educational Theatre, helping make the magic happen both onstage and off.
